Desktop Publishing

In this class students put together the monthly newsletter. They are responsible for researching, writing articles, placing articles in layout then in the newsletter. Students will use Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Word. Each student is responsible for their own article to get it in on a timely manner by each of the deadlines. If not turned in on time by the three different deadlines each month the students will lose points towards their grades.

STUDENTS NEED TO BRING SOMETHING TO WORK ON IN CLASS EVERY DAY. (BOOK TO READ, HOMEWORK, WORK ON A PROJECT, PORTFOLIO) IF THEY ARE NOT BUSY THEY WILL LOSE PARTICIPATION POINTS FOR THE DAY.

Consumer Economics

Students learn about the consumer world from researching careers, balancing a checkbook, what credit is, what types of car insurance and renter's insurance is available, and how to budget money.

Business Law

In this course students will be introduced to the legal system and how it effects businesses. This course is designed to give up-to-date coverage for traditional business law topics. This course stresses legal principles essential to everyday life. The topics covered are: understanding the "why" and "what" of law understanding special laws, making binding agreements, contracts, credit, sales contracts for minors, and laws for the business firms. The course will include guest speakers and mock trials.

Accounting I

In this class students learn how to run a business with a sole proprietorship the first semester and then second semester they learn how to run a business with a partner. Students will be given a textbook and workbook. They just need to have a CALCULATOR, PEN and PENCIL.

Computer Applications

In this class students will learn how to use a search engine properly, iMovie, Adobe Indesign and Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Keyboarding. Plus they will learn how to use a video camera, scanner and digital camera. All of these programs will help students to succeed in high school and through the rest of their lives.

MEETS IN PC LAB SECOND SEMESTER
We use orange covers for the keyboards so that no one is peaking at their keys. This way students are forced to memorize where the keys are

Advance Accounting

In this course students will cover accounting for a merchandising business organized as a corporation. As a review from Accounting I students will journalize purchases, cash payments, sales, and cash receipts. Students will be introduced to accounting for uncollectible accounts receivable, plant assets and depreciation, inventory, notes and interest, accrued revenue and expenses, disturbing dividends and preparing a worksheet, financial statements and end-of-fiscal-period entries for a corporation.

Introduction to Business

In this course students will be introduced to how a business works, including internal and external factors that affect how a business succeeds. Students will explore external and internal economic factors, different types of businesses, management, marketing and finance, and production.
